Venue Policies

To ensure a memorable visit to the Appalachian Theatre, guests are asked to please observe the following rules and venue policies.

  • It is the responsibility of each ticket holder to review and abide by the policies of the the venue which may vary from show to show and are subject to change.

    Please be advised that the Appalachian Theatre may film or take still photos at any event at the venue for venue promotional, marketing, security, or archival uses. If you attend, you may appear, and by attending you agree to appear without compensation, in any and all media now known or later devised, worldwide, in perpetuity, including in advertisements and promotions.

    Please do not enter the venue if you do not wish to appear. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

  • Face coverings are optional. Guests and employees who prefer to wear a face covering are encouraged to do so. View our Health & Safety Info.

  • Everyone, regardless of age, must have a ticket. Your ticket indicates which areas you may access and/or which seat is assigned to you for the duration of the event. For events specifically geared toward children, please review the specific event for ticketing policies for children 3 and under.

    As a courtesy to artists and guests, latecomers may be held outside the hall until there is an appropriate break in the performance.

    For most events we allow re-entry when guests check-in with the front door usher. You may be required to receive a hand stamp and show your ticket for event re-entry.

    Please review specific event policies before leaving the theatre. Always retain your event ticket throughout the event.

    All dates, times, prices and artists are subject to change.

  • The following items are prohibited:

    Backpacks or duffle bags. Oversize bags, larger than 8.5” x 11”, are restricted. Small purses are acceptable. All bags are subject to search.

    Outside food, drink or gum.

    Animals or pets. Service animals specifically trained to aid a person with a disability are welcome.

    Weapons of any kind including firearms (with or without a permit), tasers, knives, chains, projectiles and mace.

    Laser pointers, glow products, noisemakers, whistles, flares or fireworks.

    Tobacco products including e-cigarettes or vape pens.

    Glass containers of any kind.

    Video and audio recording devices.

    Contraband, drugs or illegal substances.

    Unauthorized marketing materials, pamphlets, flyers or promotional items.

    Signs, flags, balloons or hats which may restrict the view of others. Oversize umbrellas, strollers or items which could block aisles may be checked at the entrance.

    The Appalachian Theatre reserves the right to prohibit any item, inclusing items not listed above, from entering the premises based on any show request or requirement.

  • We ask your help in maintaining this historic venue because you play an important role in making the Appalachian Theatre a place that everyone enjoys.

    Please use trash and recycling receptacles provided and observe event rules.

    For concerts where it is appropriate to stand, guests will not be asked to sit down. For concerts where standing is likely, we suggest purchasing a balcony seat if you’d like to remain seated. Standing on seats or in aisles, foul language, disruptive or potentially dangerous behavior will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the venue without refund.

    At quieter, seated events, guests are asked to stay seated and refrain from disruptive noise during the performance.

    Attempting to gain access to restricted areas, sneaking in prohibited items, use of tobacco products, vaping or e cigarettes in the theatre or ignoring the requests of event staff will result in ejection from the event without refund.

  • No illegal drugs, illicit substances or outside alcoholic beverages may be brought into the venue for any purpose.

    Underage alcohol consumption or attempting to provide alcohol to underage persons is illegal, considered a serious offense and will be cause for immediate ejection from the event.

    Selling counterfeit or “scalped” tickets or unauthorized merchandise in or around the theatre is illegal. The Appalachian Theatre does not honor tickets sold by third party vendors for its programming.

    Willful destruction of property, trespassing and vandalism are illegal and will be reported to the appropriate law enforcement agency.

    Please report any concerning behavior to the House Manager, Executive Director or nearest event staff member.

  • In general, personal cameras without detachable lenses and cell phones are permitted. Professional cameras, recording devices, video cameras, tripods, drones etc. are not permitted without express venue permission and approved media credentials.

    Each artist has their own rules regarding cameras and recording devices and those will be posted with the event-specific information if different from the general venue policy. If an artist has a more restrictive policy such as “no cell phones,” that policy will be enforced during the event.

  • In the event of an emergency, the theatre’s amplification system will be utilized to provide the most accurate information possible.

    Depending on the nature of the emergency, we may ask guests to shelter in place, utilize specific exits or evacuate using all exits.

    Please follow the directions of the event staff.

  • Guests enter and exit the venue from the main entrance located at 559 West King Street. Tickets are scanned upon entering the venue. The theatre reserves to right to search bags or utilize metal detectors at its discretion. Entry through doors on Howard Street is restricted access for credentialed crew and staff only.
